Today was nice.
Got an early start and got all our shopping done with mum.
Saw Mr. Notman while we were out! I love seeing him. He's awesome.
The wind was really biting though and we were on the sidewalk so we didn't talk more than a few minutes.
Came home and then went back out and met Bobo at darbar. YUMMY!
Came back home and did Bobo's make-up for some New Year's party she's at. She promised not to be home too late since we have our present ritual tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is Christmas day! (For us anyway)!
Mom and I just finished making Kim's favourite trifle for tomorrow. Now she's going to tackle the stuffing. I want to read some of my book then go to sleep.
Happy New Year!!! *throws confetti and blows party horn*

I got some good shopping done today (some stuff for me, some for a friend) at Old Navy. Craigory came with me! That was fun. I thought he might be a pain in the butt and put blinders on me but I actually really enjoyed myself. Shhh, don't tell him that. Wouldn't want it to get out that I actually like him.
Had a nummy lunch at Kelsey's.
Then came home and went back out with my dad. We had a good time and I even managed to find Craig's elusive Hojicha tea as well as a Bodum tea maker for him. He likes it all. And slippers! We found slippers that are actually a little too big. Who knew that would ever happen ;)
I'm getting really into my book, but I worked out this morning and am sleepier than usual so I go to bed now.

Okay, I may actually have more than 2 seconds to blog. Unlike the last few days when I haven't been on the computer for more than about 2 minutes when someone makes me go do something with them. Not in a bad way...it's just much busier here than in Yuma. Well, in terms of family goings-on.
Today was a lazy Sunday...but later we went out for dinner, then Kim and I stayed downtown and went to Blockbuster and then to the coffee shop to visit Cheryl. I got a $4.50 piece of Jamocha Almond Cake for $1.50. Heheh, I love being home where people know me!
It smelled so good outside last night. It was cool and crisp and clear and smelled like wood stoves burning and just like Winter. Winter like I remember it.
I think it has been decided that we are going to Darbar for New Year's Eve dinner.
Kim wants to open presents NOW but I think mom and dad are going to make her wait til New Year's Day which will be our "Christmas".
Tomorrow I am going out shopping with Daddy. Kim is supposed to work but she stepped on some piece of glass last night and it's still in her foot so she might end up at the doctor's tomorrow instead of AAS.
Ok, the interruptions have begun again...Mango is upset.

Once again I will blog while eating my mini wheats.
I have been trying to blog all day and kept getting interrupted by EVERYTHING!
I am super tired. I walked Po this morning and made my pies (homemade crust and everything, thank you!), then took Jessica's MK stuff over to her and then she and I went next door to Robin's so I could watch Gracie open the prezzies I got her. She liked them but was in desperate need of a nap so she got cranky toward the end. Jessica got me Old Navy flannel pj pants and gift certificates for Cousins and Java Oasis!
Ica rocks!
I stopped at the grocery store and got stuff for Craig on the way home, then got here and helped Craig with some shots for wikipedia. Later on Kass stopped by and we exchanged prezzies...I still haven't opened hers yet. Then I took Po and we went to Kassandra's a couple hours later. She was on her way to the store so I walked Po around her neighborhood and then sat outside with Jim and Lakyn and drank hot chocolate :) This is my first ever Christmas away from home. I still am not used to seeing palm trees and people tooling around in golf carts at the end of December. Everyone says I'll get used to it. I'm not so sure.
Kass got back from the store and realized she had no Duraflames so I took her to multiple stores looking for some. We finally found them at the Sunshine Market! Yay!
I dropped her off at her house and came home, Po immediately barfed on the carpet, twice, even though he'd just been outside for an hour. Craig was awesome and cleaned it up for me though and now I'm FINALLY blogging and eating my dinner. Tomorrow will be interesting...it doesn't feel like Christmas but I'm going to try to enjoy it anyway.
Joyeux Nöel!

America in 2004!!!
I will blog while I eat my mini wheats.
I was sooo sleepy this morning so I got back in bed (fully dressed) around 11 and slept for an hour 'til I had to go to Teresa's to get some stuff I left in her car the other night and give her her Christmas prezzie!
I ended up going to lunch with her and her family who are in town for the holidays. They were nice, I liked them...even if they are Republicans ;)
Then I did some running around (helloooo Scrapbook Maniac!) and came home to walk Po. It was raining out! Very lightly, but I'll take what I can get. Then I came home and Scrapbooked my Dean pictures. I spent about 3 hours on it and got 2 pages done. I kept getting interupted to answer the phone or the door or let Po in/out. So I still have a few pages left to do. Tomorrow will be pie-baking (for me) and turkey cooking (for Craig).
My little prezzie corner with the mini-lights looks so cute and cozy. I wish I kept it up all year :)

I feel bad. I deleted some pictures from our digicam that I didn't know Craig wanted. I thought they were just random pics he took for the hell of it when we were on the train. I needed room on the camera for my Dean pics and deleted the train ones. Then I found out tonight he needed them. Oops :(
In other news, the fish were not biting today, had dinner with the in-laws and then got to spend some good time with Teresa. Now I am super tired and going to bed.
I sawy Craig :(

Ok, taking a break from cleaning. Also waiting for water to boil so I can make KD for lunch. And spaghetti squash for dinner, yummy!
I wil preface this next part by saying: my mom, sister and I don't particularly care for my Uncle Tom's gf Kit. She has 0 sense of humour, is very sour most of the time and thinks she is right about everything all the time. She doesn't try to hide that she thinks she smarter than everyone else and is just generally a bugger to be around. But we're nice to her because we love my uncle. He on the other hand, is hysterical, laidback, thoughtful, basically everything opposite from Kit. My Nana doesn't like her that much either, but never says anything, and my dad and Craig don't think she's all that bad.
I talked to my Nana this morning and she made some comment about upcoming Christmas family gatherings after the incident at my uncle's birthday party last week. This was all news to me....I guess the card my mom gave him (her brother) read, 'Happy 50th Birthday', and made some joke about getting old. My uncle has a great sense of humour so all is good. Then Kit looks at the card and turns to my mom and says defiantly, 'He's not 50, he's 46'. My uncle is definitely turning 50 so unless he has some vanity issue and told Kit he's turning 46 (which if you know my uncle is highly unlikely) then I don't know where she got that. So my mom fires back, 'I think I know how old my own brother is, I helped raise him'. So then I guess Kit said something back and my uncle broke it up by making some joke about just being old in general.
Afterward my mom talked to my Nana and told her she was really disgusted and didn't want anything further to do with Kit. This suits me and Kim fine, but I am okay putting up with her for the sake of being able to spend time with my uncle. Mom is not. I'm not sure how this will play out over Christmas.
It sounds like a small issue if you don't know how things have been for the last few years since Kit and Tom have been together. But to my mom this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I can't say I blame her. If someone had said the same thing to me about Kim I would have been pissed. It's one thing to say, "Are you 50? Oh, I thought you were 46, my bad!", but to say to someone's sibling "You're wrong, you don't know how old your brother is", is kind of rude.
My Nana said Tom didn't look that good; she doesn't know if it's work stress, or getting sick or Kit or what. She is going to try to get him alone (good luck with Kit) and talk to him to see what's wrong.
End of rant.

Rick Mercer is hysterical. If you can get ahold of his special from a few years back, Talking to Americans it is a must watch.
Until they air it again I will just post this to enjoy :)
March 04, 2003 Rick Mercer Apologizes to Americans
On behalf of Canadians everywhere I'd like to offer an apology to the United States of America.
We haven't been getting along very well recently and for that, I am truly sorry.
I'm sorry we called George Bush a moron. He is a moron but, it wasn't nice of us to point it out. If it's any consolation, the fact that he's a moron shouldn't reflect poorly on the people of America. After all it's not like you actually elected him.
I'm sorry about our softwood lumber. Just because we have more trees than you doesn't give us the right to sell you lumber that's cheaper and better than your own.
I'm sorry we beat you in Olympic hockey. In our defense I guess our excuse would be that our team was much, much, much, much better than yours.
I'm sorry we burnt down your white house during the war of 1812. I notice you've rebuilt it! It's Very Nice.
I'm sorry about your beer. I know we had nothing to do with your beer but, we Feel your Pain.
I'm sorry about our waffling on Iraq. I mean, when you're going up against a crazed dictator, you wanna have your friends by your side. I realize it took more than two years before you guys pitched in against Hitler, but that was different. Everyone knew he had weapons.
And finally on behalf of all Canadians, I'm sorry that we're constantly apologizing for things in a passive-aggressive way which is really a thinly veiled criticism. I sincerely hope that you're not upset over this.
We've seen what you do to countries you get upset with.
Thank you.

"Lies and the lying liars who tell them; a fair and balanced look at the Bush administration".
Heh, I think that should be the title of Al Franken's next book.
The Republicans think the Dems make things up? So where are the WMD that Dubya was so insistent on? Where is the link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11?
Those closed-minded Republicans that think Bush is the be-all end-all are the people least likely to listen to reason. I'm okay with the ones who can listen and debate and take everything with good humour, but these people who think they are in on some big secret that nobody else knows and can't see anything beyond their own annoying, egocentric, ill-conceived, idiotic ideas crack me up....and piss me off.
You're what's wrong with this country, ya know that?
Morons.
Anyway, I wrapped presents this afternoon. I didn't really feel like it. I am usually really into wrapping presents but today I wasn't for some reason. But it had to be done so I did it. I had fun once I got into it, but yah. I needed to get it done before Gracie woke up or else she would have been into the paper and the ribbons and everything else. She was snoring like a semi!
She's such a monkey :)

#FF1493 |
Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can't leave behind. You can influence others on days when you're patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing. Your saturation level is high - you get into life and have a strong personality. Everyone you meet will either love you or hate you - either way, your goal is to get them to change the world with you. You are very hard working and don't have much patience for people without your initiative. Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation. |
Wow.
That was just about the coolest thing I have ever done. I would do that again in a heartbeat. It was ALOT of planning and remembering and last-minute changes and asshead Bushies that illegally steal parking spaces (nvrmnd) but it's worth it to get the phone call I got from Rich (National advance guy), of course to meet Governor Dean (WOW!) and to get this e-mail:
Hi Victoria: I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of your hard work and dedication on behalf of all of us! Your steadfastness and patience and talents are overwhelming! and I cannot tell you how much I (we) appreciate some like you, as young as you are, and CANADIAN (eh??), being the glue that has held us all together. I know Rodney and Steve, and all of us, have depended greatly upon your time and skills, and you have come through every time.
Rest up! It's going to be a long (and hopefully!!) glorious year!

Craigory is sick. Not super sick, just has a cold and feels yucky sick. I hope I don't get it. I always get sick right before we go to Kingston. 12 days!! I will be home!!
Po got mad at me because I gave him a pancake. He was sniffing around while I was making them so I gave him a little one in his bowl and he picked it up and followed me to my desk and dropped it and started barking. He does that every time I give him a pancake. So finally Craig said, "He's mad because you gave him something and it's not meat."
So then why does he always sniff and whine when I am making them?
So Craig took the pancake and threw it in the trash and Po stopped barking.
What a weird dog. So loving though. And just a teeny bit fluffy :c)

Thanks to A'da signing my guestbook (which was thanks to ME signing HER guestbook!) I realized how truly aesthetically horrific my guestbook looked. So I fixed it. Hopefully now it is easier on the eyes and no longer makes you feel ill.
Please note that I would never intentionally create something so ugly, it was just a terrible, terrible accident. Thank you.

It was a long day. It didn't start out that way. Gracie only napped for not quite an hour, then woke up and wanted to call Grammy to see if she was coming to Jessica's concert with us tomorrow. So come to find out Lorna fell on her shoulder while putting up Christmas lights and is on her way to Urgent Care. Luckily John was there helping her so he took her to Urgent Care. I aborted Gracie's Kraft Dinner and got her in the car and on our way to Urgent Car to meet John and take Lorna home since he had to leave. Then my cell rings and it's Lorna; she didn't want to stay at Urgent Care cause it was packed and everyone had the flu. So we all head back to her house and she calls her doctor while John puts on a movie for Gracie and I get her a snack. Dr. E said to come by the office and get x-ray orders and go to the hospital lab. So we did. Gracie loves the golf cart ride in the parking lot. After a minor accident with the golf cart (Cart Man floored it after I put Gracie on but before I had myself fully on - I was hanging on with one hand and only one foot on the cart - much to Gracie's amusement) we get in and wait. I needed to call Robin but I couldn't get service until I walked outside the hospital AND turned my POS phone off and on. POS Sprint while I'm at it. Ok, no I could get service but it was ANALOG ROAM. BITE MEEEEE!!!!.
So I call Robin and return to the x-ray waiting room and soon they call Lorna and I kept Gracie with me and she crawled under chairs and gave me sour looks (I knew that 45 minute nap wasn't going to be enough). So eventually Maggie appears with Lorna and says she will keep on the x-ray techs to do a wet read on the x-ray b/c Dr.E forgot to request one and a regular read takes 4-5 days. Exactly what you need when you have a potentially broken shoulder.
So I took Lorna, me and Gracie back to Lorna's and called Robin who showed up not too long after we got back there.
I called a few hours ago and Marty said nothing was broken, just badly bruised. That's good news.
I also got my flu shot. My arm is sore.
Now I'm baking cake.
Teresa sent me a fwd today about the perils of gun control. I sent her back an appropriate response. I still love her though, she's my best friend :) We got to have lunch together today too :)
I talked to my parents today. That always makes me happy :)
Yay for Aja e-mailing me - she found my blog! Aja is very cool.
I think I should be tired but I'm not. I think it's going to be one of those sleepless nights. Good thing I have 2 Glamours to read!!!!

I got to spend some good time with Teresa last night. We went to El Centro to watch Catherine dance. She is so good! She seems so much more grown up this year than last. So I got some good quality friend time with Teresa.
On another note I am very proud of CJ for turning down the invite to the White House to light the Christmas tree. Christmas is supposed to be about peace and tolerance and compassion and Bush has done NOTHING to foster any of those.

Yuk. Today was owie. I had my doctor's appt. this morning then got home and smashed my thumb between a full gallon jug of milk and the fridge. It bled nicely for awhile. I'm such a dork. Then I bent my thumbnail backwards. The joy.
BUT, CRaig took me out for yummy dinner and I had fettucini noodles with a Tequila Sunrise sauce and it was SOOOOO good! It made up for all the pain. It was fresh chunks of tomatoes, cilantro, cheese and some sort of milk maybe, but it wasn't a cream sauce, just a little bit of milk to cut the acidity. And then whatever the 'tequila sunrise' is that they put it. It was SO GOOD.
Po is being an ass, I'm going to go correct him.
Yay for Tracy for e-mailing me when she read my blog!!! :o) Tracy rocks.

No really, she is. Go look. Anyway, she's cuter than you. Actually she's just an all-around cooler person than you. I'm not trying to be mean, it's just the truth.

I feel kind of worn out. Just in general. We have so much to do tonight/tomorrow to get ready for T-day and that is w/o doing much cooking, Mr.Kennedy is saving me from that :)
He is a much better cook than I am though, so YUM! I can't wait. I haven't had his roast since...um, the summer, after CJ and Fenner's wedding.
PLUS Craig's office is having some sort of party/lunch tomorrow and I am supposed to provide lasagna and dessert b/c that's my job. I deal with the extra stuff so Craig doesn't have to. If it makes him happy then I am happy to do it. I'm making a black forest cake, it is almost done, just have to add the cherries and ice it.
Then Grandma Jo and Grampa Jerry want us to come up to L.A. on Friday to play with their sand sailers, since Dan and Starla and Scott are their for T-day anyway. We'd take Ricki and Brigitte w/ us. I'm not sure I want to do that drive.
Oh, that reminds me I need to go over to Starla's and get the pecan pie she
left for me.
I need to go make a Thanksgivingish flower centerpiece.
Plus I have a headache. Po has been going thru the trash in our bathroom all day and pulling out stuff and chewing on it. That dog. I have given up on buying him toys because he prefers to eat things like cardboard boxes and toilet scrubbers. Woof.

I'm really bummed about not going home for Christmas. This will be the first year Bobo and I won't be able to do our Christmas morning ritual. No baking pies with my mum and nanna. No going to sleep on Christmas Eve wondering if the ground will be covered in white when I wake up. Not being able to watch my dad methodically write up his To/From list as we open presents. No being the present elf (I love that job!).
I love Kingston at Christmas...all the stores decorated, the lights, being with my family, getting last minute stuff at Pan Chancho.
This sucks.
me going to watch debate

it's poetry in motion
I have had Thomas Dolby's She Blinded me with Science stuck in my head for the last few weeks. And strangely, I'm not sick of it. I just can't seem to get rid of it.
SCIENCE!
I'm going back to my frosted mini wheats now.

Where are the dead Canadians?
I am watching the news. The FDA is trying mightily to persuade people that Canadian drugs are scary and evil and we shouldn't under any circumstances import them. God forbid the U.S. provides easier access to affordable prescription drugs!! What would the country come to?? Is the U.S. not perfect??? SHHHHH, that's a big secret, don't let that get out, the U.S. thinks the rest of the world doesn't know that. *snicker*
As someone who has used Canadian prescription drugs for 25 years I can say firsthand that the Canadian drug and healthcare industry is VASTLY superior to the U.S. In fact, when I went to urgent care down here with strep throat the PA told me I didn't have strep throat and prescribed something called Duratuss. A few days later I (in extreme pain) went home to Canada, saw my regular doctor and was informed that yes, I did in fact have strep and that Duratuss is an old, outdated drug that hasn't been prescribed in Canada for almost 25 years. So I ask you, WHO has the better prescription drug research council? CANADA. WAKE UP AND GET YOUR FUCKING PIG HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES. That was directed at the FDA and a few select others btw, not you :)
So, back to why I started this. They had clips on the news of some FDA guy spewing his paranoia about Cdn drugs and then they had a senator who obviously thinks the FDA is a fucked up as I do and said "If Canadian drugs are so dangerous, where are the dead Canadians? Show me the dead Canadians.". Finally, someone has some common sense. That seems to be sorely lacking under the current administration.
Next thing we know Bush is going to be telling us that if we buy Canadian drugs, "the terrorists will have winned". I see dead people.

So the Welcome Back Bash for the snowbirds went really well! Much better than I thought it would. Most people were receptive and even excited about the Dean stuff. We actually completely ran out of buttons, flyers, etc after only about an hour and a half. I kept running to the DemHQ to steal more and use their photocopier. Good thing they were only a 1/2 block away :) We easily had one of the best looking booths and I think we were the only political group there. I only got yelled at and called a terrorist once :) Not my fault that he's an uninformed chauvanistic fascist. By the way, do you know the real definition of the word chauvinsim? You should look it up. It actually has nothing to do with gender or men being idiots (even though this one was). Just so you didn't think I meant he was a "chauvinistic pig" in the classical sense. He said we should go to jail for not supporting BUllSHit. I laughed and told him BUllSHit was the one promoting terrorism and paranoia. I got the last word in, woohoo!
On a less condescending note, Teresa actually had a free night so she came over after dinner and watched Gilmore Girls with us until it was over, then she and I went to Coffee Bean and talked. I miss her. Since she got that 2nd job I hardly see her. It was really nice to have some time together even if it was less than 2 hours. I miss the summer (no, I haven't lost my mind, read on...) when we used to float in her pool and talk. It would be SO hot the pool would be almost like bath water and we'd just talk and float. And make Todd bring us Dilly Bars :) It was so nice and relaxing. Only 5 more months and we can do that again.
I had WAY to much caffeine with Teresa and came home and put Craig's bluetooth in my ear and I was doing impressions of the Borg and Britney Spears among others. Not really on purpose, I just like his bluetooth attachment and when I had it on it reminded me of all those things. Craig says I'm not allowed to have caffeine with Teresa anymore. I say, 'we'll see'.

The Republicans and Bush martyrs are getting scared. I love this. They pretend they aren't and keep spouting their jackass rhetoric but those of us with brains know better! ;)
I know this because it's the poor shmucks without any signs of intelligence or minds of their own that are so fanatical for the prez.
I love watching them panic.

Dad says I should keep a journal of all the Dean stuff I am doing so I won't forget it all, and I'll have cool stories to tell my kids 30 years from now like Dad has cool stories to tell us about his Hippie generation :)
So Saturday was the parade in San Luis. It was fun. I sat on the tailgate of Steve's truck (decorated by yours truly) and chucked candy at the crowds. People actually seemed receptive to the whole Dean thing. Ed, Tammy, Luis and Steve (obviously) were there too. We got there at 7 a.m. to get ready. It was a really pretty, misty morning. Then we had a Meetup afterwards. Big Dean news! The eagle is landing.
Next, tabling at the Snowbird Welcome Back Bash and then next weekend's Ice Cream event. Free ice cream. Mmmmmmm.

Speaking of going to Hell...
I am against guns. No one but the police and military need guns. This is nothing new. Perhaps the best argument I have ever heard for giving people easier access to guns was, "There are some people who just need to be shot". This guy is one of them.

Read it!
My dad sent me this. Finally it's like this country is waking up and realizing all the bullshit this president has been shoveling at them.
Yes, I know that 'president' is supposed to have a capital P when used in this instance. But this president doesn't deserve a capital P.
I doubt all the narcissistic, idiotic Republicans who have been supporting Dubya will have any of this information penetrate their mushy skulls, but for the rest of us who have minds of our own and can think for ourselves and know that thinking for yourself DOES NOT make you unpatriotic, we can know that perhaps the truth is starting to come out into the mainstream with articles like these.

We took the boat out on the lake and fished yesterday. Not one bite! I was bummed. We took Po with us, I thought he'd like the wind in his fur. He cried most of the time he was on the boat and kept leaning waaaay over the side to try to drink out of the lake. He liked it when we were cruising along, but when we stopped to fish he'd trot all over the boat. I thought he was going to fall in for sure, but he didn't. That would have been one seriously soaked dog.
Anyway, I am procrastinating. I need to go get everything ready for tonight. Too bad I feel like SLEEPING. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Ack, my Z key got stuck. That was just supposed to be a few zzz's...it's very sticky. Ruh-roh. Time to clean off the KB :P

Here's the deal...
I was at Albertson's with Gracie discussing what we should do this afternoon (which inevitably involves her telling me she doesn't need a nap) when she puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye and says, "Here's the deal, Kee...". I don't remember what she said after that 'cause I was laughing too hard. That girl cracks me up.

Lisa told me about Pureology when I was home getting my hair done for CJ's wedding in June, she said it would be really great for my hair given my penchant for colouring and abusing it. It was $30 for a small bottle though so I was like "ummm...no". The other day I was leafing through either Cosmo or Glamour and what do I come across? Them gushing about Pureology and how all these celebrities love it because it doesn't have any "bad" chemicals in it; it's all natural. So I go online to look for it since I looked for it in Yuma and, being Yuma, of course it's nowhere to be found. So online it's $30-35 for a 33 oz. bottle. Ouch. So I put it on my Christmas list and maybe my Mommy and Daddy will get it for me. Never thought I'd be asking Santa for hair products :)
I learned my lesson though. Always listen to my hairstylist. She really does know best.
I need to go. Po just knocked over his 40 lb. bag of dog kibble and is having a free for all. If he gets into it too much more he'll be having a different kind of "free for all" all over the carpet.

I'm back.. I had a Dean meeting tonight. I like bossing people around. Hehe, no I like KNOWING more than the other people there and bossing them around. Okay, I'm just being bad, we had a constructive meeting but I'm glad I'm one of the the co-ordinators b/c otherwise ppl go off on tangents and then we'd never get ANYTHING accomplished. I like being the young kid telling the old people what to do ;)
Hrm, Ryan has linked to me. I should link to him. I'll go do that now.
Craig is gone. His flight was late so he couldn't make it to the Pink Poodle to see Monique for me! :(
Bugger.
I need to brush my dog. My "goggy", as Gracie calls him. She's so cute. I wish she was here so I could squeeze her cheeks and pinch her butt. I have her tomorrow. All in good time. Patience is not my virtue.

Okay. I'm supposed to be blogging about how my bestest friend from Phoenix (that would be Ryan) and his gf Brooke came down to visit on the weekend. I think they were under the mistaken impression that I wanted to spend time with them, when in reality I just wanted to get some Coffee Bean action and a Cherry Bon Bon. I am addicted to those things. This could potentially become dangerous.
No, hehehe Ryan Rocks!
In other news...
Kass got a trampoline! If anyone needs me I'll be over there jumping.
I miss CJ and Fenner.
My Halloween costume has arrived! My mummy is awesome!!
I better go pack for Craig and finish my Dean work.

I heard that John Mellencamp song Small Town when I was in Kingston and I really related to the lyrics. I'm not usually one for finding meanings in songs but this was just like me
I cannot forget from where it is that I come from,
I cannot forget the people who love me.
I can be myself here in this small town,
And people let me be just who I wanna be.
Granted K-town isn't exactly a small town and is twice the size of Yuma, but there is none of that social class bullshit that runs rampant down here. In Yuma all those SUV-driving doctors' wives in their Nordstrom clothes stare down their snotty noses at us "regular" people.
That's what I miss about K-town; everyone just mingles regardless of class or occupation. I read an article once that had polled an equal number of Canadians and Americans who had won substantial amounts playing the lottery. The first things most of the Americans did was buy the biggest house in the ritziest neighborhood and buy new cars, etc., etc. The Canadians, for the most part, paid off some debts and continued living like before they won.
That's one of the things I won't miss about this country if I ever get to leave.
And what is with parents down here buying their teenage, barely-able-to-drive, kids cars and shit?? Maybe they should stop trying to ease their guilt over never being around with material junk and work on spending more time with their kids.
That "I work 60 hours a week so I can make lots of money and buy the newest, biggest SUV and go on fabulous trips without my kids, and go into debt up to my eyeballs so everyone thinks I am well-off, but to make up for my selfishness I'll buy my kid a car when they turn 16" mentality.
Makes me want to vomit.

I went to Grampa's grave with Nana today. I don't remember being there before. I probably went at some point but must have been very little. I took along a picture of me and Po and left it at his headstone. Nana hadn't been there in 2 years and the evergreen shrubs on either side of the headstone had gotten BIG. Taller than me and very bushy. Nana was appalled that it looked so umkempt so I think mom is going to go back with her at some point to tidy it up. Finding the grave took almost half an hour, hehe. The cemetary is HUGE and Nana thought it was in Spruce (all the roads and sections are named after trees) but we drove around and got out and looked and couldn't find it, so we finally went to the office and asked and they looked him up and photocopied a map for us and we finally found it. Turns out he is on the corner of Pine and Spruce...but more in Pine...sort of depends which entrance you use. That place is BIG; I know people who have gotten lost in it.
I'm supposed to go do Bobo's laundry so she has clothes for work tomorrow. Hah. Only sisters. Only us ;)

I had such an awesome time! Thanksgiving was GREAT! CJ and Fenner finally got up around 1 pm. After Fenner had his caffeine he returned to human form. They brought birthday prezzies for me! CJ was all excited and made a big ceremony out of presenting them to me. There were even clues in the card about each of the 3 prezzies and I had to guess what they were...
1) Super Man (Girl?) underwear! A red pair and a blue pair! Now I just need a cape.
2) A lava lamp! It's so cool - we plugged it in and it was on all day yesterday :)
3) Halloween toe socks! CJ and I now have matching pairs (just diff. designs).
They are such good friends. The card was hilarious too. Hah.
So everyone came over here and we ate and looked at their official wedding pictures and called her parents, and Nicko called us and it was just a really great day. It was sunny and warm and breezy.
At night Fenner hung out with Dad, and CJ and I spent HOURS in her room talking about everything...old bf's, ppl we knew from HS, marriage, husbands, kids, etc. Fenner came up around 2 am and joined us. The 3 of us were flopped on the bed talking, SO tired but not wanting to go to sleep. Fenner suggested I camp out in their room so we could spend the night yakking while we half-slept but I decided to go to bed cause CJ has a 6 hour drive back to Detroit today. So 3 bottles of wine and drop of Kahlua later we called it a night and finally went to bed around 3:30 :)
We all ate breakfast together this morning and then CJ and Fenner left about an hour ago :(
I'm so lucky they came all this way to spend Thanksgiving with us...the only thing that would have made it better was if Craig was here.

Everyone is up but CJ and Fenner. They got here around 5 am. I heard them come in but went back to sleep. Even when she isn't exhausted CJ can sleep until like 11 or 12, hehehe, so I think it will be awhile before she gets up. I'm excited - I want to go in and jump on her bed and wake her up...I'd do that before she was married but Fenner might not appreciate it :)
When I woke up at 5 am I was laying on my arm which was asleep and had super pins n needles...and I was having a very strange dream about Drew Barrymore living across from my parents and I was dressed up as Catherine Zeta-Jones. There was a third element but I can't remember it now. Mmmmhrmm.
I closed my window when I woke up in the night. It was cold and clear out and the air smelled so fresh and cool and the stars were SO bright. I stared out the window for a few minutes. Before I realized it was 5 am and I should go back to bed.
I guess I should go pick up Kim.

Dean rocked at the debate! Watched it on CNN with Dad.
Today was the nicest day...sunny and breezy and 20c. Tomorrow and the rest of the weekend are supposed to be like that too! It's just like summer! Tomorrow dad and I are taking the bike out for one last ride before winter. Then p/u Bobo from work and shoe shop til we pick mom up then curry for dinner, nummers! Then Sat. dinner at Nanny's, then Sunday night CJ and Fenner arrive then Monday we all do Thanksgiving!!
I love being home. I wish I could be like Samantha on Bewitched and wiggle my nose and transplant us and our AZ friends up here and go on with life as usual and no one would be the wiser. Except me of course. And maybe I'd let Craig in on it too... ;)

Ok, I think I have ascertained that this is working. 3 months later.
I love being home (Canada). Everything feels so real and fresh here. The weather, the people, the POLITICS. I know this city and it knows me. Unlike in Yuma where I feel like I don't belong and everything seems sweaty and gritty and brown.
So much Dean work to do. But it is for a great cause! Julie's friend and mentor (a major-film director) just donated a chunk of cash to Dean's campaign, woohoo! Karl Rove won't know what hit him...and hopefully it will be a large, speeding bus. Oops, I better not write that or else I'll be labeled unpatriotic and be deported (after being declared an enemy combatant, of course) hah ;) Let's try being just a little more paranoid, shall we? :P
I need to go find the old Joe Canadian commercial, that rocked....
