Ho Ho Ho!
I have pictures of his birthday, which was low-key and a lot of fun, and I'll post them in a few days with Christmas pics.
My sister is in South Africa right now and we're hoping we'll get to talk to her in the next couple days. I talked to her via AIM yesterday for a few minutes and she is doing well. She said the people there are very friendy.
Evan is in this whiney stage where he will yell/whine seemingly just to hear himself make noise. It's irritating. And LOUD. I can hear him doing it with my mom now so I'm going to go try to get him to sleep.

Tomorrow I Will Have...
Evan's stuff from Gymboree arrived a few days ago. I'm going to wrap it up and he'll open that and his corn popper toy thing that I got him for his birthday (tomorrow!). My parents are going to be here for it and I'm going to make his cake (which will mostly be used for playing and not for eating, me thinks). I'm looking forward to it. My parents are coming in today and staying the night as we are supposed to get a storm overnight. That way they will be here for Ev's birthday tomorrow plus my mom and I can get started on our Christmas menu shopping and preparing.
Kim is in South Africa now (and has been since Wednesday) and sent my parents an email saying she was fine and the people are very friendly. I can't wait to see her, 52 days! We're going to go to Kingston to see Nana when Kim gets here too. It will be her first time seeing Evan!
Time to go, I need breakfast.

I went to Toys R Us and got some more presents for him for Christmas. I'm not going to go too overboard since he isn't really going understand what's going on, but I have bought stuff I would have bought for him anyway and am just wrapping it up so he can rip the paper off stuff on Christmas morning. I'll get a couple things for his birthday too. He's going to be 1 next month!
Dan and I went to Clay Cafe and painted pottery on Friday while my parents watched Ev. It was fun, and afterward we had dinner at Cha Baa, mmmm.
Ev just fell asleep so I think it's time for a family nap. *yawn*

Evan has been up in the night a lot for the last few days so Dan took a lunch break today and looked after Evan while I slept for a little over an hour. Ahhhh, so nice! I will be so happy once he starts sleeping through the night again!
Speaking of the little munchkin, I have got a few of his Christmas presents already (I have most of my Christmas shopping/crafting done already). We got him a Pound By Pound and the BNL's Snacktime CD.

I want to go to Toys R Us and look for a few more things for him, plus some stuff for his first birthday! I can't believe he turns one in a little over a month!

And, in much less exciting news, I have to go get a cavity filled next week. Boooo. My first cavity in 30 years. I'm blaming it (not entirely without merit, according to my dentist) on Evan. The first month or so after he was born I was lucky if I remembered to shower every other day, let alone brush and floss regularly. So, I'm blaming it on my 10 month old. That's my story and I'm sticking to it ;P

OD is making me mad
Anyway, when you are on OD search for the diary Secret Santa 2008. Then sign up! :)
I got my hair cut tonight. She thinned it out a lot, which is good since I have twice as much hair as the average person (I'm not making that up, I've been told it by several hairstylists). It is sort of like a long bob, just below my shoulders with shorter layers around my face. I love it! I also bought myself a new professional flat iron. *sizzle*
Evan has mastered playing peek-a-boo and loves to be the one who holds up the blanket then pulls it down after you ask, "Where's Evan?". Sometimes he only holds it up for a second, sometimes he holds it up for like 30 seconds, hahah. But every time he lowers it he has a huge grin on his face.
Dan got home last night. It's so nice to have him back. Evan and I missed him a lot. We are watching the Rays-Phillies game right now and Ev is passed out in Dan's arms :)
Yesterday and today have been really windy and rainy though still warm, the high both days was about 15 (celsius)! I love it! I'm looking forward to the first big snowfall too :)
I may have had more to write about but if so I can't remember it now. Bed time! :)

10.27.08
He is doing so good with his crawling and will even pull himself up on furniture and take tentative steps if you hold his hands. He is so freakin' cute, I just love him all to bits!
I picked up some Halloween candy today and am going to get more tomorrow. I got a bag of 100 suckers, some rockets and a box of chips. I still need to get chocolate. I don't like to be stingy with handing out candy, and we now live in a neighborhood with lots of kids, so I need to be prepared :)
Dan gets home tomorrow night, yay! I will be so glad to have him back. Evan and I have been staying out in the country with my parents so we have some company. I will be glad to be back in the city and in our cute house!
Anyway, I'm going to watch some more of the series and then go to bed. The Rays needs help :P

POS
OD won't load the entry template so I can't write in there. I'll be writing here until it's fixed. I checked my settings and the WYSIWYG and everything was fine. I'm so glad I pay for their service :P

Argh.
Once again OD won't load the entry template. WTH??
Anyway. Dan left bright and early this morning for the airport. On Sunday night Dan got a call from work saying that they needed him to fly out TODAY. For some dumb meeting so they can "get everyone on the same page". Um, he IS on the right page, I don't know why he has to fly across the continent because some other people can't communicate very well. Do they realize he lives 5,871 miles away (thanks Google maps)? They just arranged his ticket late last night. Plus, before he accepted the job he was told he would be going out to California once or twice per year. This is his THIRD trip in three months. AND then he will probably need to go to New Jersey to hook some stuff up sometime in the next month or so. AND then they will probably want him to go back to CA around Dec-Jan sometime. After his last trip out there they told him they would like him to come out every 6 weeks. HELLO?! That's 8 trips a year. At at least a week each that is 8 weeks away from his family. Two months. BITE ME! He told them he can only do every 3 months which is a lot better. I'm still pissed though.
Anyway, I need to go. My 10 month old son, who doesn't sleep through the night and doesn't nap is whiny and cranky. What a shock.

Figures
I actually have stuff to write about and the entry template on OD won't load for me. Whatever.
I hauled out my scrapbooking/craft stuff and have been making lots of cards. I'm having fun with it. I got a bunch of ideas from the workshop I went to last month and I'm having fun with my new Stampin' Up! stamps.
Ev got his immunizations today and took them like a champ. I got my flu shot and also took it like a champ ;)
My bub weighs 18 lbs 14 oz. No wonder my back hurts at the end of the day! The doctor measured his height by laying him on the examining table and marking his head and feet with her pen on the paper liner thingy. Before she had a chance to get the measuring tape out to measure the distance between the marks Evan had ripped the paper all up and tried to stuff it in his mouth! I guess we'll try again at his next appointment :D
Shopper's was having a big sale when I stopped in tonight to get a thermometer for Ev (I haven't been able to find my other ones since we moved). I got two containers of Gain detergent for $2.50 (regularly $10.00 each). I also go a L'Oreal hair colouring & highlighting kit for $6.75 (regularly $27.00). I got a few other hair care things on clearance for Dan and I, plus some baby food for Evan and managed to spend only $21.47 including tax! If I had paid full price it would have been over $60. Yay!
Alright, off to bed with me. Morning comes early when you have a baby!

Soap on a Rope
I just put Evan into bed. He took a two hour nap today! He hasn't done that in a really long time. I slept too. Felt soooo good.
I turn 30 on Friday. Thirty. I know they say you're only as old as you feel, and I feel like I'm still in my early to mid-twenties, but I'm not looking forward to the whole 30 thing. Seeing that 3 in front of my age is going to throw me off for a long time.
My parents are going to come in and baby-sit Ev while Dan and I go out to dinner (we're going to make a it a joint celebration of our anniversary which is October 5th - also my sister's birthday!) and then come back here for cake and ice cream.
We went over and visited with our neighbor, Jana, this evening. She had invited us over to see her workshop (she runs her own soap business from her house) so Dan, my dad and I went over after dinner and she showed us around. She has so many neat soaps! She is about my age and has been doing it for six years. They smelled soooo good and are so pretty! And she has really neat designs They are the kind of glycerin soaps that are transparent and have colourful designs in the center. She even has ones with little toys in the middle for kids. I bought 6 bars from her of different ones right there, hehehe. When we first moved in she came over and introduced herself and brought us a bar of her citrus zest soap and it was love at first lather for me.
Anyway, time to start up the dishwasher and get in bed. Sleep is a very precious commodity around here :P

9.27.08
Speaking of Ev, he is nine months old now and has four teeth, with two more on the way! Six teeth seems like a lot for a nine month-old but not much I can do about it :P
We are supposed to get some bad weather starting tomorrow from Hurricane Kyle. I doubt it will be that bad. Most of it is supposed to go to the west of us, and besides, the last time they said we were going to get hurricane remnants we barely even got some rain. It's cloudy and sprinkling on and off right now and I think that will probably be all we get.
Evan is napping (!!) so I am going to go play with some craft stuff while he is down.
Heather Rocks!
Thanks Heather! <3

Just Stuff
We move into our new home on Wednesday. I'm excited to decorate and make it feel homey. It also has a great kitchen that I am excited about using since I love to spend time baking. Though I rarely have time to do it anymore now that Evan keeps me busy full-time.
Talked to Kim last night, she is thinking of going to travel Africa at the end of this year and then hopefully come up here for a visit too! Africa = me having heart attack. Why can't she pick somewhere nice and safe? Ugh.
Anyway, I think this is it for now. OD better get back up soon. It's annoying.
Why Am I Not Surprised.
Yay. Not.

Your Birthdate: October 3 |
Being born on the 3rd day of the month is likely to add a good bit of vitality to your life. The energy of 3 allows you bounce back rapidly from setbacks, physical or mental. There is a restlessness in your nature, but you seem to be able to portray an easygoing, "couldn't care less" attitude. You have a natural ability to express yourself in public, and you always make a very good impression. Good with words, you excel in writing, speaking, and possibly singing. You are energetic and always a good conversationalist. You have a keen imagination, but you tend to scatter your energies and become involved with too may superficial matters. You are affectionate and loving, but sometimes too sensitive. You are subject to rapid ups and downs. |

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation, on the right-hand side of God...."
So much for the light bulb ;D I couldn't help it, I busted up laughing. She was so earnest about it, it just cracked me up. She messed up a few other parts, but that was the one that stuck out in my mind. She is such a cute little monkey, I adore her.
Also, the kids in my class think a Toucan is called a 'tuna can' and an Ant Eater is a 'bug sucker'. How could I not love getting paid to hear things like that?? :D
This morning was really windy so we went and bought a kite @ Walgreen's (nobody sells kites anymore!) and took Po to the park to fly it. It worked great! I had forgot how much fun it was to do that. I think it is supposed to be windy againt tomorrow, so maybe we can go do it again!! :-)
